Many of us have used trays to serve food with or to move food from room to room, but have you ever thought of a wood tray as a piece of art? Some of the wood trays available today are so attractive that you may want to display them on your wall rather than serve food and drinks on them. The good news is – you can do both.

Beautiful carved wood trays made from rich mahogany with brass handles would look nice with both traditional and more modern styles of home décor. These trays usually have a finish on the wood so spills can be just wiped up after using – so do not hesitate to use them for serving food and drinks. Other trays will feature a mirrored bottom for both elegance and easy clean-up.

High end home décor and gift shops are a good place to find unique trays for your home. Some artisans also sell there trays online. You can find intricately carved wood trays, painted trays and even trays with an inlaid tile bottom. Antique wood trays with painted or decoupage bottoms would also be a great addition to a living or dining room with that style of décor. Very simple wood trays with straight lines and cut-out handles would work great in a contemporary setting.

If you find a wood tray that you love, there is no reason why you can’t have it on display in your home and then put it to good use when you are entertaining, or even when the family needs a serving tray for popcorn on movie night. You could also display your tray by keeping it on the buffet to hold glasses or in the TV room to keep the remote and TV listings in one place. There is really no limit to the number of uses you will find for your upscale wood tray.
