The Zojirushi NP-GBC05 rice cooker is the best 3 cup machine you can get in North America at the moment. It costs around about $250 so is relatively expensive. However when you read some of the rice cooker reviews written about this machine you begin to understand why it is so popular. If money is tight you can actually choose to get a Zojirushi NS-LAC05. This unit is very similar but comes at half the price. The big difference is that while the cheaper model is also a Micom rice cooker, it does not come with the Induction Heating system. This really does add quite a bit to the price. But also it adds a lot to the quality of rice the NP-GBC05 can produce. The NS-LAC05 can make really good rice but the NP-GBC05 makes great rice. To make great tasting rice in a NP-GBC05, all that you have to do are the following few steps. Firstly, scoop out 1 cup of rice (or more if you prefer, max is 3 cups). Then level off the scoop to make sure it is exactly 1 cup. Pour the rice into the cooking bowl and add some water. Particularly with white rice, you have to give it a good wash to get rid of the starch coating. When you have washed this away all you have to do is add water up to the 1 level mark then put it back in the cooker and turn it on.

When you buy a new home, it often doesn’t come with new appliances in the kitchen. In particular, the stove, which is a big old heavy lump, has seen many years of service. Moving house is expensive enough without having to having to buy a whole lot of new appliances such as a washer dryer combo. It is nice to have a modern stove with all the latest features, but it is still possible to make your old model look a bit more modern with some simple tips.
You will probably find that the color of the current stove does not match the color scheme that you have planned for your kitchen. Also you may find it is marked, scuffed or even shows signs of a lot of wear and tear. All is not lost, however, as most hardware stores will sell spray paint that will adhere to a metal appliance. Although there will not be an abundance of color options, sticking to a neutral color is a good idea.
It is important not to paint the stove in the kitchen otherwise you will end up with paint everywhere. Also, for safety, it should be done in a well ventilated area, preferably outside.

When doing renovations to your home, or just trying to spruce it up a little bit, one good addition that you can make is that of some nice kitchen blinds. Most people spend a great deal of time in the kitchen of their home so why not dress it up and make it look good.
There are so many choices out there that people often get lost in what kind they should get. There are a bunch of different things that should be taken into account when making your decision. The style of your house, the color of your kitchen and how much light control you want to have are all key elements to determining what kind to get.
The most common are the mini-blinds that we’re all used to and they’re the most common because they’re the cheapest, you know the ones with blades that run horizontally and you can raise and lower them. Using this type of blind can be useful and there are some very nice and classy styles crafted of wood and other materials.
Another type that you can look at are made of fabric and can actually be taken down and put in the washing machine when they get dirty. They raise and lower by folding up like an accordion and come in a wide variety of colors to match whatever color scheme that you have in your kitchen.
Another consideration that you should account for is the fact that kitchens are a little damper than most other rooms in your home. With all of the cooking making steam and washing dishes and everything else, that’s no wonder. To account for this you need to get kitchen blinds that are mildew resistant and will be easy to clean so you can keep them looking good and you’ll be happy with your purchase longer.
Kitchen Curtain Colors for Mixed Up Kitchens

If you plan a kitchen from scratch you will usually have a predominant theme. Maybe your kitchen is natural country colors and you can choose natural colored curtains to match. Maybe your kitchen is ultra contemporary with shiny stainless steel appliances and gleaming white units and you decide to forget curtains altogether and choose the clean lines of blinds. But if you have inherited your kitchen from previous owners and you’re not sure what the style is meant to be, curtains and other window treatments can be more difficult to choose.
If your kitchen seems to be mainly warm colors such as cream, beige, yellow and brown (including the warm tones of wood) then at least you know that you can choose autumnal shades and they will go well with your kitchen. If it is mainly cool colors such as white, gray or blue then that is fairly easy too and you can choose the same white, gray or blue colors for your kitchen curtains or go for one of the cool bright colors such as lime green, turquoise or bright pink.
But if you have a mixed up kitchen with all kinds of colors then this advice is not going to help much. Mixed up kitchens are informal and friendly. You rarely find them on the covers of “Homes and Gardens” but they are found in many of our homes where our kitchens and accessories seem to have grown around us rather than get planned. We still want our curtains to look good however.
With a mixed up room the best type of kitchen curtains colors to go for are mixed up too! By that I mean curtains which have a lot of colors in them. For example, you will find cheerful fun curtains in narrow multi-stripes or plaid curtains with all colors of the rainbow included in both bright and more subtle shades and you will find many floral patterns which include a multitude of colors.
