With the onset of winters it becomes imperative to have heaters in your rooms. Though propane heaters are not as popular as natural gas heaters, they prove to be economical for keeping your home warm during winters. Radiant Space Heaters Versus Circulating Type Space Heaters
Radiant heaters are very often referred to as infrared heaters. Their principle of heating a given space is very much the same as that of the sun heating the earth. Just as the sun heats the objects or the earth without heating the medium, these heaters too heat the objects and not the air present in the room. As infrared rays strike an object on their way, they get deflected but the object gets heated in the process. Traditional heaters heat the medium and employ a fan to distribute the heat produced. The mechanism of most such heaters is the same as that of a central air heater.
Wall Mounted Space Heaters
Some propane room heaters are designed to be mounted on the wall. Such units may either be radiant or circulating kind. As can be visualized, wall mounting units leave your floor space free for optimum utilization. The design of wall mounting brackets needed for housing the units on the wall vary with the manufacturer. Of course, to get them mounted on the wall you have to do some bit of handy job.
Vented Versus Vent Free Space Heaters
For combustion of the fuel used, the vented space heaters absorb air from outside atmosphere, while vent free space heaters employ air present in the room. For heating of closed rooms, vented design should be preferred than the vent free units. However, under certain circumstances vent free indoor propane heaters are installed in bedrooms and bathrooms. But such installations are practical only when the heater is fairly small and provided with an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS).
