Kids chairs are quite interesting if you think about it. For instance, once a child is old enough to need a twin size bed, they’ll be able to use that bed until they’re old enough to move out on their own. Same for their dresser and other furniture as well. Chairs on the other hand are something they will out-grow and so there is a chair for every stage of life it seems. This article will look at some of the different chairs kids use as they grow up.

Once a child is old enough to start eating baby food, they encounter their first chair and by that I mean the high chair. A kids high chair, by the nature of the messes that will happen there, needs to be easy to clean with preferably a plastic tray and a vinyl seat cushion that can be completely removed for cleaning. A wide and secure non-slip base is also a must, to keep your excited baby from tipping the whole chair over.

When your child reaches the age of four or five, another set of chairs come into play and often these chairs include a table. A kids table and chairs set provides all the furniture needed for a great cup of make-believe tea. Of course this set also works equally well for coloring, playing with play-dough or just reading a book. I believe this is one opportunity where you can save a little money by hunting the thrift stores and garage sales. When hunting, look for real wood, because it’s easy to refinish.

As the kids grow up, life’s pressures will begin to become apparent and soon it’s time for school and homework. A kids desk chair is the perfect thing for all those late hours studying. While some may suggest a regular office chair, I’ve bought chairs that are more akin to what’s in your dining room. Big comfortable cushions and a solid feel plus a well lit study place, and a plant or two, make study time as enjoyable as possible.

So in this article, we’ve looked at a few different kinds of kids chairs and while those low chairs from the toddler days won’t work when your child hits around age eight, an adjustable chair for an eight your old will work until you child is in his teens. And if it goes out of style, repaint it and add a decorative pillow cushion and it’ll be as good as new.
