As a bit of a garage sale junkie, the cold weather can really put a cramp in my Saturday morning plans.  During the warm summer months I really enjoy going out and seeing what kind of treasures I can find as the people in my area peddle their wares in their garages and on their front yards.  When the garage sale season slows down, I sometimes resort to going to thrift stores, trying to find something interesting.  I usually don’t have too much luck doing that.

The other day, I decided to see if I could search out some type of online garage sale.  I was not expecting to find much, but I found an interesting site related to garage sale items and selling on eBay.  What caught my eye was one of the items that had been written about.  It was an old Farberware coffee pot.  This is the same type of coffee pot that sat on the counter of my grandmother’s kitchen when I was growing up.  Just looking at it really took me back.  It seems that they are getting popular again.

I don’t know if it is because I am getting older or if it is really true, but it really does seem like they used to make things to last a lot longer than they do now.  Those old coffee pots actually managed to get passed down from one generation to the next.  I personally have gone through at least five or six automatic drip coffeemakers during my adult life so far.  The drop off in quality seems to be significant.

My new mission, when the next garage sale season starts, will be to hunt down my very own Farberware coffee pot.  If possible, I plan on getting the same model that I grew up with.  I can’t wait to hear the percolating brew and smell that comforting coffee aroma as I sit quietly in my own kitchen.
