Duvet Covers are Great for Kids Bedrooms
Duvet covers are catching on as a practical way to keep a warm cover on your bed that is easy to clean at home without the headache of dry cleaning or taking a trip to the commercial laundrymat. They also make a lot of sense in kid’s rooms. If the duvet cover gets dirty, you can throw it in the wash as you do bed sheets without having to worry about squeezing it in your washing machine or stress about ruining the down stuffing.
Using a duvet cover also means that redecorating is easy and quick. If your child has outgrown those TV characters or the bright colors, just find a new cover to please their new big kid tastes.
More and more department stores, discount stores and online shops are carrying duvets and duvet covers geared towards children and teenagers. Sometime you can find a whole coordinating bedroom set that can give your child’s room a new look and feel instantly. If your child likes a warm cover, you can purchase a nice down comforter or duvet that will last for many years and simply change the cover to coordinate with the decor as it changes.
If your child has an old blanket or comforter that they can not seem to part with, you could give it new life by getting a duvet cover in a corresponding size. This way that favorite blanket is still with your child, but the surface next to their skin is clean and fresh looking.
If you can’t find the right size or style duvet cover for your child’s bed, you can easily make a cover out of fabric or two flat sheets. Sew the right sides together on three sides and leave the fourth side open to insert the blanket or comforter. Add ribbons or Velcro to the open end as fasteners and you have a new kids duvet cover for your child’s room.
